With a stethoscope gently resting on her newborn's breast, Presley Trejo listened to her little daughter'due south centre beat for the very last time.

A few days later at Emerson's newborn checkup, the pediatrician noticed a small blister inside her mouth.

After being rushed to hospital, doctors managed to stabilise the newborn before examining her.

"She just slept… and slept.. and slept.. she wasn't waking up very frequently to feed so that concerned me," the mum says.
When she raised her concerns, the medical staff explained that once Emerson was off the medication she would be back to her normal bubbly self.
And three days later Emerson's status had stabalised and she was discharged.
"She was all the same pretty lethargic and still didn't accept an appetite. I just assumed she was still coming off of the fluid," her mum says.
For the next few days Emerson connected to decline food then Presley phoned doctor later on doctor desperately seeking an reply.
But the mum was told by multiple doctors that once the fluids had completely flushed out of her organisation, Emerson would exist back to her hungry self.
Presley wasn't convinced the doctors were right and turned to Google for answers.

As emergency services arrived, they began performing CPR.

At the hospital, Presley and Elias paced the corridors waiting for any news.
"I've never seen so many doctors and nurses trying to save 1 tiny infant," she says.
After what felt like eternity, doctors eventually pulled the parents bated.
"We found out that it was also belatedly to relieve her. Her kidneys had failed and her liver was right behind," Presley says.
"Nosotros knew we weren't going home with our babe again. It was then we found out she had HSV-1.
"We went out to our family finally, and told them that she wasn't going habitation with us once again. She was completely on a ventilator and merely machines hither keeping her alive," the mum tearfully recalls.
Crushed by the news, Elias and Presley held each other.
That dark the family spent the evening on the infirmary floor and the next morning they had to make a decision.
"We discussed all nighttime long simply felt it was best for u.s. to let her get and then she wouldn't take to suffer anymore.
"The baby I saw in that bed, wasn't my Emerson anymore. And information technology would accept been selfish of me to try and hold on to her any longer," Presley says.
On August 6, 2018 the Trejo family said their final goodbye.
At 12 days one-time, Presley had her last cuddle with her little girl as the family turned off her life support.
"We only held on to her as tight every bit we could," she says.
"The nurses gave us a stethoscope for united states to listen to her heartbeat until there wasn't one anymore."
Presley can't recall what happened in the days following Emerson's passing, revealing she just felt "numb".
"I think walking into the chapel at her funeral and all the seats were completely total and people were standing on the sides and out the door. It was amazing having then many people who loved and cared about our girl," she adds.
Equally she laid her babe daughter to rest, Presley knew she would never forget the 12 special days she got to share with Emerson.

Iii months later on, the family unit was brought out of their dark cloud of grief when they received some unexpected news - Presley was pregnant.
"Not with one but ii perfect baby girls. We were thrilled and excited but knew we could never supplant our Emmy girl," she says
And nine months later 2 gorgeous healthy rainbow babies were born.
But Presley doesn't see herself as a mum of four. She is a proud mum of five - four globe-side and one angel.

"My plea to parents is to please don't let anyone kiss your babies. Not on the easily or face up, oral fissure. You tin carry the [HSV-1] virus and never have an outbreak," the mum warns.
